How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I always wanted to be a speaker so I majored in Speech Communication in college and have been talking ever since! My position with CFBISD from 1993 - 2002 gave me many opportunities to share at statewide conferences and with other local groups of teachers and parents. The Love and Logic Institute in Golden, CO also gives me referrals and more nation wide exposure when I speak at their national conference each summer. My husband is a pastor so I have delivered many seminars at different churches across Texas.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Besides having a wealth of public speaking experience, I use humor and props to entertain as I train and educate. People often say abut me, "I could listen to her all day!" "You have helped me raise a responsible young adult and saved my sanity." Having experience in church ministry and public education has given me many opportunities to speak in churches, and in public and private schools. I am the ELL Director at Willow Bend Academy so I have current examples of working with both American and International students.
